We’re
United Choir School, Connecticut’s leading provider
of choral ensembles for girls.
We’ve found that many girls are looking for more challenging
opportunities to develop their musical talent, so we’ve developed a
unique network of choirs to enable gifted girls of every experience level
to realize their potential! Our
program currently serves over 550 students, ages 6-18, from 40 towns and
150 schools throughout the state.
The United Girls’ Choir,
our largest division, currently has chapters based in 10 different towns,
with additional chapters under development in other communities. UGC is made up of 22 ensembles of
various levels, from beginner to advanced, each of which rehearses once
per week and performs in several local concerts during the school
year. The Elm City Girls’ Choir, our premier
division, is an elite and rigorous magnet program, which provides
conservatory-level musical training and performance opportunities to a
select group of exceptionally talented choristers from all around the
state. ECGC has earned a
reputation as one of America’s
finest youth choirs, and has performed at many prestigious venues
throughout the world.
Our
curriculum focuses on the cultivation of leadership skills, musicianship,
confidence, and musical literacy, while emphasizing the importance of
sisterhood, teamwork, commitment, integrity, and respect. Staff members and choristers work
together as colleagues with the common goal of creating an atmosphere
that is both challenging and fun.
Peer leadership and mentoring are strongly encouraged, and many of
our advanced choristers serve as teaching assistants and role models for
less experienced students. The
mission of United
Choir School is to
enable its choristers to experience the joy of realizing their full potential,
both as musicians and as human beings, while working together in a
cooperative, professional environment.
